Screenwriting Groups

What does it take to have a screenwriting group?

A place to meet
Usually a community center or library room, business conference room, your house, etc is ideal. The exact location is determined by the groups' needs (formal meeting vs. informal meeting, comfort level, noise, accessibility). We highly recommend staying out of dining establishments or bars because it takes away from the writing and discussion atmosphere you need to have. However, exceptions are places like Panera Bread, Barnes & Noble and other have reservable rooms you can close off for for meetings. The choice is yours!

A regular meeting schedule

Usually once per month (some groups meet twice per month). Regularly scheduled meetings is vital to maintaining a writing routine and to keep the group's momentum.

A regular meeting time

For example 6:30pm - 8:30pm. This gives people time to go home (if they work) and have dinner or whatever. The meeting time will depend on your group's needs.

A commitment to learn screenwriting

It won't happen overnight but it won't take you twenty years either. Screenwriting is a continually evolving process. The longer you stick with it the better you get.
