Screenwriting Groups
How to I find other writers to start a screenwriting group?

Starting a writers group on your own may seem like a lot of work, but it doesn’t have to be! To start a local screenwriting group, consider finding screenwriters in the following ways...

Meet screenwriters at conferences, workshops and film festivals, then network with them
Trade phone numbers. Ask the screenwriting instructor to put your name and phone number on the board because you'd like to start a writers group. Also ask them to introduce you -- it will ad some credibility. That way interested writers can call you later or catch you during a break.
Post a notice on bulletin boards in classrooms, at conferences, and on the Internet, asking people to
        sign up
You can pick these lists up later.
Handout flyers
You can even go out on a limb and announce the first meeting in the flyer.
Place a "Writers Wanted" classified ad in newsletters and magazines for screenwriters

Send a letter of invitation

To college or adult education writing classes, announcing the date of your meeting.
Use existing courses
Is there a college or university nearby that offers a creative writing or film program? Often screenwriters can be found among these communities so contact their students!
Try bulletin boards in grocery stores and Laundromats
Lots of people read them!
Friends, co-workers and acquaintances
Don't forget to approach non-writing friends and acquaintances that might know writers who belong to groups. You'd be surprised how many people know someone interested in screenwriting!
